# The Studio workspace

The workspace is where your visualization comes to life. You see a live preview, talk to Vizzy to change it, fine-tune details yourself, and save, publish or download the .trex when you're happy to use the visualization in Tableau.

<figure><img src="https://2312557015-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FWbWxEBax8PKTjFYRLWgi%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-6023a70ff2d1ef0d52a4a013b8848c1165c1a491%2FStudio_Workspace_Ready.png?alt=media" alt=""><figcaption><p>A visualization in the Studio workspace, with the Vizzy panel on the right</p></figcaption></figure>

### Live preview

The **Live preview** shows your visualization as it will look in Tableau or Analytics.

* It uses **built-in sample data** (sales by region, category, date and so on), not your own data. In Tableau, it uses the fields you bind to it.
* Click **Refresh** to build the visualization again, for example after you changed the branding in [Advanced settings](/trulyp/settings/advanced-settings.md).
* If the visualization declares its own settings, a gear button opens them, just like in Tableau.
* When the preview hits an error, Vizzy automatically tries to repair it (at most twice for the same error).

### Refine with Vizzy

The Vizzy panel opens automatically. Ask for changes in plain language, one at a time, and check the preview after each one:

> "Make the bars thinner and sort them from lowest to highest."

Vizzy updates the visualization and refreshes the preview. See [Making a great Vizzy studio app](/trulyp/vizzy-studio/making-a-great-vizzy-studio-app.md) for good refinement requests.

### Settings

The **Settings** card on the right has three tabs.

**Details**: the visualization's **Name**, **Slug** and **Description**.

<figure><img src="https://2312557015-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FWbWxEBax8PKTjFYRLWgi%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-df7186773216a869c90c8e9669a7077d89d20593%2FStudio_Settings_Details.png?alt=media" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="warning" %}
The slug is part of the visualization's address and of its Tableau extension. **Changing the slug breaks workbooks and dashboards that already use the visualization.** Only change it before you share it.
{% endhint %}

**History**: the **Version history**: every draft, save, build, publish and unpublish, with its time and status.

**Elements**: the element editor, for precise visual changes without Vizzy. Click **Pick**, then click an element in the preview, such as a title or a number. Choose whether to change only this element or all similar ones, and adjust its **Text**, **Font size**, **Padding**, **Border radius**, **Text color** and **Background**. Changes apply when you save.

### Save, publish, download and delete

The buttons at the top of the workspace:

* **Save**: saves and builds your changes ("Saved and built.").
* **Publish** / **Unpublish**: publishing makes the visualization available under **Studio visuals** in [Analytics](/trulyp/vizzy-studio/use-in-tableau-and-analytics.md#in-analytics). Save your changes before you publish.
* **Download TREX**: downloads the extension file for Tableau. This works in any status; you don't need to publish first. See [Use it in Tableau](/trulyp/vizzy-studio/use-in-tableau-and-analytics.md).
* **Delete**: removes the visualization for good. Only possible for **Draft** and **Built** visualizations; unpublish a published one first.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Saving a published visualization unpublishes it** ("Save and unpublish?"), so the published version always matches what you reviewed. Publish it again when you're done.
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.infotopics.com/trulyp/vizzy-studio/the-studio-workspace.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
