Scenarios, Aliases & Roles

PowerKPIs can cope with different ways of storing different scenarios. By default, PowerKPIs assume that different scenarios (like Actuals, Budget, and Forecast) are stored in different columns (= in different measures). Another way of handling these scenarios could be to store the scenario name into a separate dimension (“Scenario”) and have This Year and Last Year as measures. Each metric in the extension is then a combination of Scenario and Measure Names.

In the Aliases and Roles section, you can define aliases and roles for each of these combinations. This way, you could, for example, use a YTD value for the Big Numbers and monthly values for the trend charts.

In general, PowerKPIs can cope with any type of storing your KPI data.
