# Row groups

In this section, you can create and configure row groups in Finance Tables.

Row groups allow you to create your own grouping structure based on an existing dimension or an earlier row group.

### **Make a row group**

* **Make a row group:** Add a new row group to the table.

#### **Row group display name**

* **Row group display name:** Change the name shown in the table.

#### Source field

* **Source field:** Select the dimension or earlier row group that should be used as the source.

#### **Default group**

* **Default group (optional):** Define the group name that should be used for unmapped values.

#### **Value mapping**

Use the value mapping table to assign source values to group names.
