# Introduction

## DrillDownTree overview

**DrillDownTree** allows users to drill down on any measure to any dimension they choose. This extension provides flexibility for dashboard users, enabling them to visualize data across multiple dimensions without setting up hierarchies upfront.

### Key features

* **Flexible Navigation:** Users can drill down into dimensions in any order, without pre-defining hierarchies.
* **Automatic Aggregation:** Data is automatically aggregated, simplifying the exploration process.
* **Enhanced Self-Sufficiency:** Empowers users to conduct ad hoc exploration and root cause analysis without relying on predefined structures.

### Benefits

* **Ad Hoc Exploration:** Facilitates easy and intuitive exploration of data.
* **Root Cause Analysis:** Helps identify underlying causes by drilling into specific data dimensions.

### Drill-Down analysis

Drill-down analysis is a method used to break down aggregated data into finer details. It allows users to start from a high-level overview and navigate to granular insights, providing a deeper understanding of the data. This technique is crucial for identifying trends, patterns, and outliers effectively.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.infotopics.com/drilldowntree/product-guide/introduction.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
